BHS '74 Reunion!

Welcome class of '74!!!

I found cake that I wanted to make for someone that I've known and loved for a very long time. I chose to make a mini cake to go with the reunion cake just for her! When I was dicussing the plans for the reunion cake, he wanted to make it a surprise. He wanted a BHS cake, with a little Happy Birthday message to celebrate both. NO WAY! I made her her very own special Wizard of Oz cake, her favorite! Hope they enjoyed! :-)

Amy's Babyshower!

This was a cake that I REALLY REALLY enjoyed making. Me and Sue had discussed the colors and the theme, but nothing too specific (more fun for me!) So I got to be a little bit more creative. Loved, loved, loved the way this turned out. I see many more monkey's in my future
Speaking of monkeys, hurry up Baby James! We can't wait to meet you!

Jackson's First Birthday!

AunE made Jackson his first birthday cake! There was a smaller one just for hims to tear into, but I haven't uploaded those pictures yet. It was the perfect day, the perfect party, and the perfect boy to celebrate!! :-)

These cupcakes we're almost too cute to eat! I've been focusing on cakes, but every now and again I get really excited for a large cupcake order. They're smaller and the mini fondant things are just so cute!

Wouldn't be complete without the flip flop cake for the birthday girl!

I've been working on my flower making skills. I'm getting better and better. These were.. um... well they're not that bad! haha.

Congrats Grads!!!

This was a "financial" cake for Veronica's big grad party!

It's hard to see my favorite part. The Wall Street sign at the bottom!
She hopes to one day go international, which is why there are not only american money symbols, but euro and yen! Good luck Veronica!

Here's my badass Hawaiian cake for Adriane's graduation party! AWESOME colors, AWESOME Tiki, and of course, look at those flowers! This was one of my favorites. And it wouldn't be Adriane inspired without the pineapples!

A pea in a pod.

My messy kitchen during the process.

Baby Ava's cake.

Baby shower cake for a pink and brown themed shower. This was a mighty one. I started over twice, and spent more time on it than I thought I was going to. I need to get better with my layers, and a better method of DELIVERY!
I have every weekend in May and June lined up for cakes. HOW EXCITING. This weekend is a Pirate cake, and a baby shower cake for a BOY! :-)
Then next weekend a martini cake and doggie cookies!
Check back for more updates!!

Babyshowers are my forte!

This was made for a girl at work's babyshower. Welcoming baby Ava! (It looks like "Aval, but it's "AVA!") I hope to get more orders for this, because I have so many different ideas! It's adorable!!!

This was one of the gifts to her, handmade!
Her very own diaper cake. I think these things are to die
for, and there are so many different ways to make them!

A quickie..

Ok. First of all, I'm the worst blogger ever! I've been meaning to update, but with a broken laptop, a new place, and making cakes on the side after my FULL time job, I just don't have time for anything! EXCEPT MORE CAKES! :-) I've been a busy bee, and with graduation season coming up, I'll be camped out right next to the oven. Here is a very mini update on some of the things I've been cooking up lately.....

Sunflowers by Vincent Van Gogh

Completely hand painted. That's something.

Here are some jungle animal cupcakes that I made for a Safari themed babyshower in March.

Man. Something was up with my camera this day.
This picture does these little guys NO justice!

Just fun frosted

It looks like a cupcake bomb went off
in my kitchen. They were EVERYWHERE!

A camera cake for the photographer!

Wait a minute. I haven't thought about this until now but.. Adriane seems to be getting me most of my business. With her step-father's cake, Ella's Turtle Cake, and now this work of art. I was asked to make this cake for a man that was a photographer for The Capital Gazette for 28 years! I actually had a lot of fun with this cake. It was a lot of work! Lots of small details, and little things to pay close attention to. I ended up finishing the cake at 4am, and finally stepping away from it.. and hating it! The desk and the camera were made of cake. The lens of the camera I tried making out of cake, but that didn't work out so well. I then tried to make it just of fondant. Again, bad idea. I let it sit over night, came to work the next day, and beat myself up thinking about it for hours! Finally, I decided to use Styrofoam. Now before you freak out, many people that make big cakes that start becoming heavy in certain areas do use Styrofoam. When I heard this the first time I was like "Oh my. Never! Not my cakes!" Yeah well. That didn't last long. These things get heavy! It ended up working out perfectly! Exactly how I wanted it to look. AGAIN, my camera decided to continue it's dormant state of broken slumber. These are from Adriane's camera at the Federal House in Annapolis. Love that place!

I think I might be getting a little better at this! :-)

Ella Smella's Birthday!

This turtle had one hell of a drive! It was made here, and transported all the way to NY all in one piece. THANK GOD! I get so nervous when they travel outside of my kitchen. So, my camera bit the dust, and I couldn't take any photo's of this cake. I must say, great photography skills with the Blackberry Adriane! A++!

She smudged the writing, and now it looks silly. But the turtle is still uber cute!

He has a smiley face if you can't see.

I was going to make more of a real life type turtle, but that's no fun for someone just turning 4! So, I threw some fun colors and flowers in there too. Just something different and fun.

Julie's Raven's Party

Everyone had to bring something to the big Raven's playoff party. So, naturally, I offered my cake sevices! And in leu of the big occasion, I made a # 5 Flacco jersey! I thought it looked pretty cool! Not a perfect representation of a real football jersey but hey! I'm gettin the hang of things!

Too bad they lost, but the cake was delicious!

Aloha & Happy Birthday Mark!

Well! This was a fun cake to do! My best friend Adriane came to me and asked me to make a cake for her step-father's birthday. Well of course! They were leaving for Hawaii about a week later, so what a better theme then a Hawaiian "Tommy Bahama" shirt to celebrate a birthday and send off! We made the lei out of "kona beans" instead of flowers because well, let's face it, that would have been a little too girlie!

Just little cupcakes to go with the theme of the cake. They were mini cupcakes. This picture does them no justice to how CUTE they were!

The colors were amazing!
